Marketing Connect Meetup Review: Unveiling Creator Content Analysis and SEO Exposure Strategies

In this post, the SkyReve team introduces a marketing data analysis event and shares a range of strategies and insights into marketing analytics.

On November 26, 2024, the Marketing Data Connect event was held at Majestar City Tower in Seocho, Seoul, South Korea. The event focused on content data analysis and SEO growth strategies, bringing together marketing experts from diverse fields to share valuable insights and perspectives.

Industry professionals from leading companies like Nexon Korea and Jellyfish Korea participated to share their practical insights, and the event saw an enthusiastic turnout of over 60 marketers.

The event featured three main sessions, each offering valuable takeaways:

  • Analyzing Influencer Trends with Content Data
  • What a Data Analyst Learned from Side Projects
  • Write for Guaranteed Top Rankings: SEO Growth Know-How from Experience

✅  Analyzing Influencer Trends with Content Data

Seoyoung Ji from Nexon Korea Presenting During the Session

In the first session, Ji Seoyoung, a data analyst at Nexon Korea, delivered a presentation titled "Analyzing Influencer Trends with Content Data." She emphasized the importance of analyzing influencer trends for businesses aiming to maximize their marketing impact. According to Ji, each influencer and piece of content has its own unique characteristics, making it essential to tailor strategies that align with these individual traits for optimal results.

To support effective marketing efforts, Ji shared methods for analyzing data generated by creators, including YouTube streamers as well as other influencers. She also introduced ways to leverage various analytical outcomes to develop marketing strategies. In particular, she highlighted the need to consider factors like content virality, retention, data fluctuation rates, and change cycles to design strategies that align with a company’s goals.

However, SkyReve believes that this type of data analysis is more suited to large corporations than small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The reasons are as follows:

  • Lack of internal systems and infrastructure
    • SMEs often lack the necessary data analysis infrastructure for marketing.
    • Additionally, it is challenging for them to prepare advanced data analysis systems or hire specialized personnel.
  • Marketing budget constraints
    • Marketing strategies involving creators can incur significant costs.
    • For SMEs, it is often more effective to utilize alternative marketing strategies that offer better returns for the same budget.

For SMEs, it may be more beneficial to focus on analyzing their own data to develop marketing strategies. Tailoring marketing data analysis and strategies to align with each company’s specific circumstances can lead to more effective outcomes.

✅  What a Data Analyst Learned from Side Projects

Dongwoo Kim from Jellyfish Korea Presenting During the Session

The second session featured a presentation by Dongwoo Kim, Senior Analytics Manager at Jellyfish Korea. He shared insights from his side projects, offering practical know-how on analyzing data with GA4 (Google Analytics 4).

As part of his side project, Dongwoo published the book titled “Google Analytics 4: Practical Applications”, a comprehensive guide designed for current and aspiring marketers who are just starting to learn GA4. Rather than focusing solely on theory, the book emphasizes actionable, real-world knowledge, delivering a wealth of practical information.

The content spans foundational knowledge of GA4 to advanced topics such as integrating Google BigQuery, applying event tracking with Google Tag Manager (GTM), and more. It also includes hands-on exercises to help readers practice and implement what they've learned effectively.

To support the publication of this book, Dongwoo shared his experiences with GA4 analysis, highlighting key considerations and setup methods for effectively using GA4. The main points he presented are as follows:

  • Setup Checklist
    • Enable Google Signals.
    • In the PROPERTY column, click Data Settings > Data Retention and set the event data retention period to 14 months.
    • Locate the “Reset user data on new activity” toggle switch and turn it on.
  • Data Layer Setup
    • Create an object to store data.
    • Build a data layer script function.
    • Create a GTM tag*.
    • Set up a trigger.
    • Apply changes after confirming that everything is valid.

In addition, Dongwoo shared valuable insights on topics such as cross-domain tracking*, UTM (Urchin Tracking Module)* parameters, and funnel analysis*. We, the SkyReve team, are also planning to leverage such analytics tools for marketing data analysis and strategy development as part of our mid-to-long-term goals.

*A GTM tag is a snippet of code in Google Tag Manager used to track user behavior, collect data, or integrate marketing tools.

*A UTM (Urchin Tracking Module) is a set of parameters added to a URL to track the performance of marketing campaigns by identifying their source, medium, and campaign name.

*Funnel analysis is a method of visualizing and analyzing user journeys through a series of steps to identify drop-off points and improve conversion rates.

*Cross-domain tracking connects user activity across multiple domains to provide a unified view of their journey as a single session.

The final session was presented by Minju Kim from Elephant Company, a provider of B2B content marketing services. She shared insights on SEO (Search Engine Optimization) growth strategies, explaining how to rank content at the top of search engine results without relying on paid advertisements.

Kim highlighted three key points:

  • Creating content that uses the customer’s language
  • Optimizing search engines through core keyword analysis

In addition to these key points, SkyReve, as a tech company, considers the following factors essential for search engine optimization:
